Attorney Cavanaugh graduated from Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, Massachusetts. He earned his BA from Boston College. Attorney Cavanaugh earned his law degree at Suffolk University Law School, magna cum laude, graduating in the top 10% of his class. He was a published member of the Suffolk University Law Review and received numerous awards for oral argument and legal research and writing.
Attorney Joseph F. Cavanaugh III focuses his Cape Cod law practice on civil litigation in the trial courts of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He has extensive experience in the field of insurance defense, and has represented numerous insurance carriers that conduct business in Massachusetts, including: Arbella Mutual Insurance Company; Amica Mutual Insurance Company; Encompass Insurance Company; Quincy Mutual Insurance Company; USAA and Safety Insurance Company. Attorney Cavanaugh has defended these companies' insureds on hundreds of occasions in the areas of motor vehicle accidents, construction negligence, commercial and residential property and hazardous waste claims, including mold and oil spills. Attorney Cavanaugh has also successfully represented plaintiffs in personal injury lawsuits, including; automobile accidents, slip and falls, and accidents at sea.
